최근 레트로(Retro) 열풍과 함께, 젊은 이용사들이 과거 유행했던대전바버샵 스타일을 현대적으로 재해석해 선보이는 바버샵(Barber shop)이 인기를 끌고 있다. 하지만 최근 일부 바버샵에서 발모제를 해외 직구(직접구매)를 통해 들여와 수염을 기르기를 희망하는 고객들을 상대로 판매한다는 사실이 확인됐다. 이에 대해 법조계와 약사 사회 모두 우려의 목소리를 냈다.

팜뉴스 취재진은 최근 서울 강남 소재 바버샵에서 근무하는 한 이용사로부터 바버샵 내에서 미녹시딜 외용제에 대한 불법 판매가 이뤄지고 있다는 제보를 받았다.

익명을 요구한 이용사는 “바버샵 내에서 수염 기르기를 희망하는 일부 고객들을 대상으로 미녹시딜 외용제를 판매하고 있다”ë©° “해외 직구를 통해 대량으로 들여와, 고객들에게 나눠서 판매하고 있다”ê³  말했다.

미녹시딜은 바르는 발모제로, 피나스테라이드와 함께 미국 식품의약국(FDA)으로부터 탈모치료제로 승인받은 유이(有二)한 의약품이다. 미녹시딜은 경구제인 피나스테라이드와 달리 의사 처방 없이도 구매할 수 있는 일반의약품으로, 약국에서도 쉽게 구할 수 있다.

미녹시들은 원래 동맥 확장 효과가 있어 고혈압 경구 치료제 용도로 쓰였지만, 이후 부작용으로 다모증(多毛症)이 발생한다는 사실이 알려지면서 탈모 치료용 외용제로도 사용하기 시작했다. 국내에서도 현대약품, 동성제약 등 여러 제약사가 미녹시딜 외용제를 판매하고 있다.

바버샵이 미녹시딜 판매에 나선 이유는 미녹시딜을 얼굴에 바르면 수염이 난다는 사실이 알려지면서부터다. 실제로 인터넷 검색사이트에서 ‘미녹시딜 수염’을 검색하면, 미녹시딜을 통해 수염을 기르는 데 성공했다는 후기를 여럿 찾아볼 수 있다.

팜뉴스 취재진은 실제로 해당 바버샵에서 판매된 미녹시딜 외용제를 입수하는 데 성공했다. 취재진이 입수한 미녹시딜 외용제는 미국 유통업체 코스트코의 자체 브랜드(PB) 커클랜드에서 판매하는 60mL 용량의 미녹시딜 5% 외용제였다. 바버샵에서는 해당 제품 3병을 2만 원에 판매하고 있었다.

익명을 요구한 다른 바버샵의 이용사는 “수염을 기르고 싶지만, 수염이 잘 자라지 ì•Šì•„ 고민인 일부 고객들이 미녹시딜을 구매해 발랐다는 사실은 알고 있었다”ë©° “아무래도 바버샵을 찾는 고객

현대자동차는 30년간 봉사활동을 이어온 직원이 자신의 경험을 담은 책을 냈다고 22일 밝혔다.

최씨는 1992년 고향마을에 태극기 100개를 기증한 것으로 봉사활동을 시작했다.

김경춘 원장(노보텔 앰배서더호텔 더 글래식 바버샵)이 대한민국명장에 선정되었다.

김 명장은 지난 9월 1월 대한민국명장 증서를 교부받고 이용부문 명장의 반열에 올랐다.

이용부문 대한민국명장의 탄생은 7년만에 쾌거로 김원장을 포함하여 전국에 11명에 불과하다.

김명장은 1992년 인천 한진고등학교 이용과 졸업을 시작으로 미용분야에 활동하기 시작하였으며 1992년 인천지방기능대회 금메달을 시작으로 각종대회에서 수상경력을 가지고 있다.

현업에 종사하면서도 만학의 꿈을 이뤄 2020년 서경대학교 학사와 동대학교 미용종합예술과 석사과정을 수료하였다.

2002년 아시아 월드 심사위원을 시작으로 각종 국내외 대회 심사위원으로도 활동중이다. 2013년 부터는 전국기능대회 심사위원으로 참여하고 있다.

대한민국명장은 산업현장에서 최고 수준의 숙련기술을 보유한 기술자로서 37개 분야 97개 직종의 산업 현장에 15년이상 종사하며 숙련기술 발전 및 숙련기술자의 지위 향상에 크게 공헌한 사람을 대상으로 숙련기술장려법 제11조 규정에 의해 대통령 명의로 선정된 사람을 말한다.

또한 국민에게 산업에 필요한 숙련기술의 습득을 장려하고 숙련기술의 향상을 촉진하는 동시에 숙련기술자에 대한 사회적 인식을 높임으로써 숙련기술자의 경제적, 사회적 지위를 향상 시키고 산업경쟁력을 높이기 위한 목적으로 삼고 있다.

대한민국명장에게는 증서 및 휘장, 대한민국명장패의 수여(대통령 명의) 일시장려금(2,000만원) 지급된다.

구리시는 지난 21일 롯데백화점 구리점에서 개학을 앞둔 드림스타트 대상 아동 6명에게 재능기부와 후원 행사를 진행했다.

이번 후원은 지역사회 내 취약계층 아동에 대한 관심 제고 및 후원문화 활성화를 위해 롯데백화점과 점 내 브랜드와의 협의를 거쳐 진행된 것이다.

5층 ‘코코노블헤어앤바버샵’에서 오전 10ì‹œ 30분 이미용 재능기부를 시작으로 8층 퐁퐁플라워 키즈카페 후원까지 진행되었다. 또한, 이미용 서비스를 받은 출출한 아동들을 위한 다과와 음료도 마련되었다.

11일 유통업계에 따르면 롯데백화점 대전점은 지난해 8ì›” 정통 유럽스타일의 프리미엄 바버샵인 '마제스티 바버샵'을 5층에 문을 열었다. 마제스티 바버샵은 헤어스타일링은 물론 바버샵의 상징인 면도와 헤드스파, 두피·íƒˆëª¨í´ë¦¬ë‹‰ì— 이르기까지 남성 ì „ìš© 맞춤 서비스를 제공하는 '프리미엄 토탈 멘즈케어' 공간이다.

세이백화점은 지난 4월 '레드폴바버샵'을 본관 4층에 오픈했다. 남성 고객을 위한 전용 공간으로 꾸며 커트와 스타일링 등 남자들의 분장실로 입소문을 타면서 꾸준히 고객 몰이 중이다. 실제로 지난달 기준 매출은 오픈 당시와 비교해 50~70%가량 신장세와 함께 단골손님도 빠르게 늘고 있다.

무신사(대표 한문일)ê°€ 서울의 10ê°œ 로컬 브랜드와 함께 ‘무신사 로드트립’ 프로젝트를 진행한다. êµ­ë‚´ 로컬 브랜드의 고유한 개성을 알리고 문화적 다양성을 넓히고자 하는 취지다.

이달 22일까지 진행되는 무신사 로드트립은 서울을 기반으로 전개하는 개성 있는 로컬 브랜드를 소개하고 무신사 스토어 내 브랜드 다양성을 확대하기 위한 문화 프로젝트의 일환이다. 첫 번째 프로젝트에는 다운타우너, 더부스, 디아우트로, 마조의사춘기, 맥파이앤타이거, 백야드빌더, 소금집, 스틸북스, 오르에르, 카페노티드 등 10개 브랜드가 참여했다.

흔히들 당구장 비즈니스를 한물간 업종이라고 말한다. 어쩌다 내가 하는 비즈니스에 대해 이야기하는 자리가 생기기라도 하면 산업에 대한 부정적인 이야기만 질문 받다가 끝나는 경우가 허다했다.

나는 그들에게 반은 맞고 반은 틀리다고 이야기해주고 싶다. 빅 비즈니스는 앞으로 뜨는 사업이 아니라 앞으로도 없어지지 않을 사업이다. 내 눈에는 앞으로도 없어지지 않을뿐더러, 이뤄진 것보다 이뤄 나가야할 것이 더 많이 존재하는 당구 산업은 충분히 빅 비즈니스로 보이기 때문이다.

물론, 당구장 비즈니스에 대한 외부의 우려 섞인 시선들이 무엇인지는 누구보다 잘 안다. 현재, 당구장 업계에 가장 큰 문제로 대두되고 있는 부분이 젊은층 유입이다. 중장년 남성들의 전유공간으로는 산업의 미래가 그리 밝지 않다는 의견이다. 당구장은 40대 이상의 중장년 남성들의 전유의 공간으로 치부될 정도로 성별과 연령대가 한쪽으로 치우쳐 있다.

손님뿐만 아니라, 당구장 업주 역시 크게 다르지 않다. 이는 곧 업계 전반적으로 영향을 끼친다. 업계 관계자 역시 이런 현상에 말 못할 고민거리들이 많다. 한물 간 산업이라는 부정적인 이미지를 탈피하고자 업체들도 다양한 시도를 한다. 하지만 오히려 새로움과 발칙함을 선보이다 시장에서 선택을 받지 못하고 사라지는 경우가 부지기수다.

몇 년 전 업계에서 흔치 않게 외부투자를 유치해 스타트업 전문 매체에 실렸던 당구 IT플랫폼 업체가 있었다. 그 업체 대표는 나이가 젊은 개발자 출신이었으며, 실력을 인정받아 사업을 시작한 지 5개월 만에 투자를 유치했다. 투자유치 보도자료를 접한 다음 날 업체 대표와 만났다. 그 대표보다 몇 년 일찍 입문한 내가 볼 때도 얼토당토않은 비즈니스 모델이었으나, 업계를 잘 모르는 외부투자자로부터 그럴듯한 IR(기업설명 활동)로 투자를 유치한 것 같았다.

아마 외부에서 바라보았을 땐 아날로그 당구비즈니스에 IT를 결합한 사업모델이 충분히 혁신적으로 보였을 것이다. 이미 당구 시장은 견고한 상위권 플레이어들이 있다. 아무리 혁신기술을 도입해도 전환비용을 고려할 때 시장을 점령하기는 쉽지 않아 보였다. 결국 그 기업은 투자유치 1년 만에 소리 소문 없이 폐업했다. 오죽하면, 업계 에선 몇 십 년 전 모델에서 조금 업그레이드 하는 정도로 제품을 출시해야 이질감 없이 시장에 통하지, 완전 새로운 것이나, 트렌디한 제품을 겁 없이 시도했다가는 자멸할 수 있다는 이야기가 공공연하게 나오고 있다.

당구 시장에서만큼은 요즘 취향을 추구하기보다 아재들이 좋아할 고전적인 취향을 유지하는 것이 장수의 비결인 셈이다. 속된 말로 “너무 많은 것을 바꾸려 하지 마라”라는 것이다.

현실적으로도 당구장 내 분위기 역시 일명 힙한 젊은 층보다는 어른들의 취향에 맞춘 동네당구장 느낌의 매장의 비율이 압도적이며, 매장 내 서비스 역시 아직도 셀프가 아닌 주인이 가져다주는 고전적인 형태가 견고하게 유지되는 몇 안 되는 업종이다. 결국, 주 고객층에 따라 시장은 바뀔 수밖에 없기에 시장의 변화를 기대하기 보다는 고객의 변화가 먼저 일어나는 선순환 구조가 필요한 셈이다.


무신사는 프로젝트에 참여하는 로컬 브랜드와 협업해 각 브랜드의 아이덴티티가 담긴 그래픽 티셔츠를 판매한다. 티셔츠는 무신사 스토어에서 구매 가능하며, 각 브랜드 매장에 마련된 팝업 부스에도 전시된다. 티셔츠 발매와 함께 10개 브랜드의 콘셉트를 살린 화보와 브랜딩 필름도 공개했다.

국내 2049 남성 10명 중 8명은 평소 피부 관리를 하고 있으며 다양한 온-오프라인 채널에서 2달에 1번꼴로 피부 관련 제품을 구매하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 수염, 면도 관리와 헤어 스타일링, 탈모 관련 시장도 큰 비중을 차지하며 젊은 층에선 주기적으로 눈썹, 피부톤 등을 관리하는 비중이 적지 않았다.

오픈서베이는 êµ­ë‚´ 20~49세 남성 1,000명을 대상으로 1ì›” 29일~30일 모바일 서베이를 진행, ‘남성 그루밍 트렌드 리포트 2022’를 발표했다.

오픈서베이 측은 “남성 뷰티는 아직 기회가 많지 않다고 여기는 목소리도 있으나 이제 종합적인 관점으로 남성 그루밍 시장의 기회를 살펴볼 ë•Œ”라고 말했다.

로컬 브랜드 매장에서는 캠페인 제품을 구매한 고객을 대상으로 참여 이벤트도 진행된다. 티셔츠 구매 후 케어라벨을 잘라 해당 매장에 제시하면, 무료 음료 증정과 할인 혜택 등 특별한 혜택을 제공한다. 또한 각 브랜드 매장에 마련된 ‘무신사 스팟’을 찾아 해시태그와 함께 인스타그램에 업로드하면, 추첨을 통해 브랜드 티셔츠로 구성된 세트를 증정한다.

허재는 오렌지 빛깔의 코트까지 걸쳐 입고 완벽한 힙재로 변신해 눈길을 사로 잡았다. 허재는 "여성스러운 옷 같다고 생각했는데 입어보니까 또 다르다"라고 말했다. 허재는 폴라티에 검은 바지, 야상 점퍼를 입고 닉 우스터 패션을 완성해 눈길을 사로 잡았다.

최근 레트로(Retro) 열풍과 함께, 젊은 이용사들이 과거 유행했던대전바버샵 스타일을 현대적으로 재해석해 선보이는 바버샵(Barber shop)이 인기를 끌고 있다. 하지만 최근 일부 바버샵에서 발모제를 해외 직구(직접구매)를 통해 들여와 수염을 기르기를 희망하는 고객들을 상대로 판매한다는 사실이 확인됐다. 이에 대해 법조계와 약사 사회 모두 우려의 목소리를 냈다.

팜뉴스 취재진은 최근 서울 강남 소재 바버샵에서 근무하는 한 이용사로부터 바버샵 내에서 미녹시딜 외용제에 대한 불법 판매가 이뤄지고 있다는 제보를 받았다.

익명을 요구한 이용사는 “바버샵 내에서 수염 기르기를 희망하는 일부 고객들을 대상으로 미녹시딜 외용제를 판매하고 있다”ë©° “해외 직구를 통해 대량으로 들여와, 고객들에게 나눠서 판매하고 있다”ê³  말했다.

미녹시딜은 바르는 발모제로, 피나스테라이드와 함께 미국 식품의약국(FDA)으로부터 탈모치료제로 승인받은 유이(有二)한 의약품이다. 미녹시딜은 경구제인 피나스테라이드와 달리 의사 처방 없이도 구매할 수 있는 일반의약품으로, 약국에서도 쉽게 구할 수 있다.

미녹시들은 원래 동맥 확장 효과가 있어 고혈압 경구 치료제 용도로 쓰였지만, 이후 부작용으로 다모증(多毛症)이 발생한다는 사실이 알려지면서 탈모 치료용 외용제로도 사용하기 시작했다. 국내에서도 현대약품, 동성제약 등 여러 제약사가 미녹시딜 외용제를 판매하고 있다.

바버샵이 미녹시딜 판매에 나선 이유는 미녹시딜을 얼굴에 바르면 수염이 난다는 사실이 알려지면서부터다. 실제로 인터넷 검색사이트에서 ‘미녹시딜 수염’을 검색하면, 미녹시딜을 통해 수염을 기르는 데 성공했다는 후기를 여럿 찾아볼 수 있다.

팜뉴스 취재진은 실제로 해당 바버샵에서 판매된 미녹시딜 외용제를 입수하는 데 성공했다. 취재진이 입수한 미녹시딜 외용제는 미국 유통업체 코스트코의 자체 브랜드(PB) 커클랜드에서 판매하는 60mL 용량의 미녹시딜 5% 외용제였다. 바버샵에서는 해당 제품 3병을 2만 원에 판매하고 있었다.

익명을 요구한 다른 바버샵의 이용사는 “수염을 기르고 싶지만, 수염이 잘 자라지 ì•Šì•„ 고민인 일부 고객들이 미녹시딜을 구매해 발랐다는 사실은 알고 있었다”ë©° “아무래도 바버샵을 찾는 고객

현대자동차는 30년간 봉사활동을 이어온 직원이 자신의 경험을 담은 책을 냈다고 22일 밝혔다.

주인공은 울산공장에 근무하는 최현섭(59·ìƒì‚°ê´€ë¦¬ 4부) 씨다.

최씨는 1992년 고향마을에 태극기 100개를 기증한 것으로 봉사활동을 시작했다.

현대차 자원봉사센터 회장으로서 봉사단체 '한울타리'를 비롯해 '청죽', '넝쿨 한우리', '32장학회', 미용 봉사단체 '바버샵'을 창단하는 등 분야를 가리지 않고 폭넓은 봉사활동을 해왔다.

1987년 입사 후 다문화 가정 봉사, 어르신 방문 이발 봉사, 도배 장판 봉사, 지체 장애인 지원활동 등에 참여했다.

누적 봉사 시간은 1만6천 시간에 달하며, 개인 자격으로 사회단체에 기부한 금액은 6천여만원이다.

600만 명이 넘는 관객을 끌어모은 영화 <킹스맨>에는 깔끔한 투블럭 헤어스타일의 신사가 눈길을 사로잡는다. 온갖 액션 장면이 난무하는 영화 내내 이 신사는 한 치의 흐트러짐 없이 헤어스타일을 유지한다. 많은 사람이 바버샵이라는 단어를 듣고 떠올리는 헤어스타일 역시 이 모습과 크게 다르지 않다.

이렇다 보니 많은 사람이 바버샵을 어렵게 생각해 선뜻 문턱을 넘지 못하는 경우도 많다. 또한, 바버샵을 방문한 사람도 이곳에서 무조건 투블럭, 포마드와 같은 스타일만 가능하다고 생각하곤 한다. 그러나 이 같은 오해나 편견과 달리 바버샵은 현대인의 이발소와 같은 존재다. 머리를 꼭 짧게 자르지 않고 일반 미용실처럼 염색이나 펌도 얼마든지 가능하다는 의미다.

이에 관하여 마포구에서 버터바버샵을 운영하는 김동환 대표를 만나 이야기를 들어보았다.

안녕하세요. 여기는 두바이 국제공항이고요. 영국으로 가는데 요즘 기름값이 비싸서 2번 환승하는 걸로 예매했어요. 서울에서 두바이, 두바이에서 노르웨이 오슬로, 오슬로에서 영국 가는 걸로요. 근데 제가 이번에 에미레이트 탔는데, 좌석이 이코노미인데도 너무 넓고 옛날에도 타 본 경험 있는데 진짜 좋은 거 같아요. 강추합니다!

마지막으로 노르웨이에서 런던으로 가는 비행기를 끊었는데, 여기 내리자마자 제가 뭔가 특이한 느낌을 받았어요. 보니까 여기 있는 사람들은 마스크를 아무도 안 써요. 심지어 실내인데…

​아트퍼니처 작가 박진석, 유상현, 조형준, 한만호가 이끄는 목가구 디자인 스튜디오이자 카페 잭슨 팹(Jackson FAB). 이곳은 공간을 운영하는 디자이너들의 용기 있는 선택이 모여 탄생한 공간이다. 이들은 모두 잭슨 팹을 열기 전까지 건설, 영상, 의류 등 목공과는 전혀 관련 없는 분야에서 본인 만의 커리어를 쌓아왔다. 이랬던 그들은 우연한 계기로 목공을 접하며 삶의 전환점을 맞이한다. 취미로 시작한 목가구 디자인에서 손으로 만드는 일의 기쁨을 느낀 뒤 작가로서 살아가기로 결심한 것. 절대 쉽지 않은 작가의 삶을 선택하는 데는 분명 큰 용기가 필요하지만, 이들은 여기에서 멈추지 않았다. 한 번 더 용기를 발휘하며 이들은 삶의 터전이었던 서울을 떠나 연고도 없는 부산에서 새로운 여정을 시작했다. 부산의 뜨거웠던 여름, 이제 갓 공간을 오픈하며 설렘과 열정으로 가득했던 네 작가의 이야기를 담아봤다.

김경춘 원장(노보텔 앰배서더호텔 더 글래식 바버샵)이 대한민국명장에 선정되었다.

김 명장은 지난 9월 1월 대한민국명장 증서를 교부받고 이용부문 명장의 반열에 올랐다.

이용부문 대한민국명장의 탄생은 7년만에 쾌거로 김원장을 포함하여 전국에 11명에 불과하다.

김명장은 1992년 인천 한진고등학교 이용과 졸업을 시작으로 미용분야에 활동하기 시작하였으며 1992년 인천지방기능대회 금메달을 시작으로 각종대회에서 수상경력을 가지고 있다.

현업에 종사하면서도 만학의 꿈을 이뤄 2020년 서경대학교 학사와 동대학교 미용종합예술과 석사과정을 수료하였다.

2002년 아시아 월드 심사위원을 시작으로 각종 국내외 대회 심사위원으로도 활동중이다. 2013년 부터는 전국기능대회 심사위원으로 참여하고 있다.

대한민국명장은 산업현장에서 최고 수준의 숙련기술을 보유한 기술자로서 37개 분야 97개 직종의 산업 현장에 15년이상 종사하며 숙련기술 발전 및 숙련기술자의 지위 향상에 크게 공헌한 사람을 대상으로 숙련기술장려법 제11조 규정에 의해 대통령 명의로 선정된 사람을 말한다.

또한 국민에게 산업에 필요한 숙련기술의 습득을 장려하고 숙련기술의 향상을 촉진하는 동시에 숙련기술자에 대한 사회적 인식을 높임으로써 숙련기술자의 경제적, 사회적 지위를 향상 시키고 산업경쟁력을 높이기 위한 목적으로 삼고 있다.

대한민국명장에게는 증서 및 휘장, 대한민국명장패의 수여(대통령 명의) 일시장려금(2,000만원) 지급된다.

구리시는 지난 21일 롯데백화점 구리점에서 개학을 앞둔 드림스타트 대상 아동 6명에게 재능기부와 후원 행사를 진행했다.

이번 후원은 지역사회 내 취약계층 아동에 대한 관심 제고 및 후원문화 활성화를 위해 롯데백화점과 점 내 브랜드와의 협의를 거쳐 진행된 것이다.

5층 ‘코코노블헤어앤바버샵’에서 오전 10ì‹œ 30분 이미용 재능기부를 시작으로 8층 퐁퐁플라워 키즈카페 후원까지 진행되었다. 또한, 이미용 서비스를 받은 출출한 아동들을 위한 다과와 음료도 마련되었다.

11일 유통업계에 따르면 롯데백화점 대전점은 지난해 8ì›” 정통 유럽스타일의 프리미엄 바버샵인 '마제스티 바버샵'을 5층에 문을 열었다. 마제스티 바버샵은 헤어스타일링은 물론 바버샵의 상징인 면도와 헤드스파, 두피·íƒˆëª¨í´ë¦¬ë‹‰ì— 이르기까지 남성 ì „ìš© 맞춤 서비스를 제공하는 '프리미엄 토탈 멘즈케어' 공간이다.

세이백화점은 지난 4월 '레드폴바버샵'을 본관 4층에 오픈했다. 남성 고객을 위한 전용 공간으로 꾸며 커트와 스타일링 등 남자들의 분장실로 입소문을 타면서 꾸준히 고객 몰이 중이다. 실제로 지난달 기준 매출은 오픈 당시와 비교해 50~70%가량 신장세와 함께 단골손님도 빠르게 늘고 있다.

무신사(대표 한문일)ê°€ 서울의 10ê°œ 로컬 브랜드와 함께 ‘무신사 로드트립’ 프로젝트를 진행한다. êµ­ë‚´ 로컬 브랜드의 고유한 개성을 알리고 문화적 다양성을 넓히고자 하는 취지다.

이달 22일까지 진행되는 무신사 로드트립은 서울을 기반으로 전개하는 개성 있는 로컬 브랜드를 소개하고 무신사 스토어 내 브랜드 다양성을 확대하기 위한 문화 프로젝트의 일환이다. 첫 번째 프로젝트에는 다운타우너, 더부스, 디아우트로, 마조의사춘기, 맥파이앤타이거, 백야드빌더, 소금집, 스틸북스, 오르에르, 카페노티드 등 10개 브랜드가 참여했다.

흔히들 당구장 비즈니스를 한물간 업종이라고 말한다. 어쩌다 내가 하는 비즈니스에 대해 이야기하는 자리가 생기기라도 하면 산업에 대한 부정적인 이야기만 질문 받다가 끝나는 경우가 허다했다.

나는 그들에게 반은 맞고 반은 틀리다고 이야기해주고 싶다. 빅 비즈니스는 앞으로 뜨는 사업이 아니라 앞으로도 없어지지 않을 사업이다. 내 눈에는 앞으로도 없어지지 않을뿐더러, 이뤄진 것보다 이뤄 나가야할 것이 더 많이 존재하는 당구 산업은 충분히 빅 비즈니스로 보이기 때문이다.

물론, 당구장 비즈니스에 대한 외부의 우려 섞인 시선들이 무엇인지는 누구보다 잘 안다. 현재, 당구장 업계에 가장 큰 문제로 대두되고 있는 부분이 젊은층 유입이다. 중장년 남성들의 전유공간으로는 산업의 미래가 그리 밝지 않다는 의견이다. 당구장은 40대 이상의 중장년 남성들의 전유의 공간으로 치부될 정도로 성별과 연령대가 한쪽으로 치우쳐 있다.

손님뿐만 아니라, 당구장 업주 역시 크게 다르지 않다. 이는 곧 업계 전반적으로 영향을 끼친다. 업계 관계자 역시 이런 현상에 말 못할 고민거리들이 많다. 한물 간 산업이라는 부정적인 이미지를 탈피하고자 업체들도 다양한 시도를 한다. 하지만 오히려 새로움과 발칙함을 선보이다 시장에서 선택을 받지 못하고 사라지는 경우가 부지기수다.

몇 년 전 업계에서 흔치 않게 외부투자를 유치해 스타트업 전문 매체에 실렸던 당구 IT플랫폼 업체가 있었다. 그 업체 대표는 나이가 젊은 개발자 출신이었으며, 실력을 인정받아 사업을 시작한 지 5개월 만에 투자를 유치했다. 투자유치 보도자료를 접한 다음 날 업체 대표와 만났다. 그 대표보다 몇 년 일찍 입문한 내가 볼 때도 얼토당토않은 비즈니스 모델이었으나, 업계를 잘 모르는 외부투자자로부터 그럴듯한 IR(기업설명 활동)로 투자를 유치한 것 같았다.

아마 외부에서 바라보았을 땐 아날로그 당구비즈니스에 IT를 결합한 사업모델이 충분히 혁신적으로 보였을 것이다. 이미 당구 시장은 견고한 상위권 플레이어들이 있다. 아무리 혁신기술을 도입해도 전환비용을 고려할 때 시장을 점령하기는 쉽지 않아 보였다. 결국 그 기업은 투자유치 1년 만에 소리 소문 없이 폐업했다. 오죽하면, 업계 에선 몇 십 년 전 모델에서 조금 업그레이드 하는 정도로 제품을 출시해야 이질감 없이 시장에 통하지, 완전 새로운 것이나, 트렌디한 제품을 겁 없이 시도했다가는 자멸할 수 있다는 이야기가 공공연하게 나오고 있다.

당구 시장에서만큼은 요즘 취향을 추구하기보다 아재들이 좋아할 고전적인 취향을 유지하는 것이 장수의 비결인 셈이다. 속된 말로 “너무 많은 것을 바꾸려 하지 마라”라는 것이다.

현실적으로도 당구장 내 분위기 역시 일명 힙한 젊은 층보다는 어른들의 취향에 맞춘 동네당구장 느낌의 매장의 비율이 압도적이며, 매장 내 서비스 역시 아직도 셀프가 아닌 주인이 가져다주는 고전적인 형태가 견고하게 유지되는 몇 안 되는 업종이다. 결국, 주 고객층에 따라 시장은 바뀔 수밖에 없기에 시장의 변화를 기대하기 보다는 고객의 변화가 먼저 일어나는 선순환 구조가 필요한 셈이다.


무신사는 프로젝트에 참여하는 로컬 브랜드와 협업해 각 브랜드의 아이덴티티가 담긴 그래픽 티셔츠를 판매한다. 티셔츠는 무신사 스토어에서 구매 가능하며, 각 브랜드 매장에 마련된 팝업 부스에도 전시된다. 티셔츠 발매와 함께 10개 브랜드의 콘셉트를 살린 화보와 브랜딩 필름도 공개했다.

국내 2049 남성 10명 중 8명은 평소 피부 관리를 하고 있으며 다양한 온-오프라인 채널에서 2달에 1번꼴로 피부 관련 제품을 구매하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 수염, 면도 관리와 헤어 스타일링, 탈모 관련 시장도 큰 비중을 차지하며 젊은 층에선 주기적으로 눈썹, 피부톤 등을 관리하는 비중이 적지 않았다.

오픈서베이는 êµ­ë‚´ 20~49세 남성 1,000명을 대상으로 1ì›” 29일~30일 모바일 서베이를 진행, ‘남성 그루밍 트렌드 리포트 2022’를 발표했다.

오픈서베이 측은 “남성 뷰티는 아직 기회가 많지 않다고 여기는 목소리도 있으나 이제 종합적인 관점으로 남성 그루밍 시장의 기회를 살펴볼 ë•Œ”라고 말했다.

로컬 브랜드 매장에서는 캠페인 제품을 구매한 고객을 대상으로 참여 이벤트도 진행된다. 티셔츠 구매 후 케어라벨을 잘라 해당 매장에 제시하면, 무료 음료 증정과 할인 혜택 등 특별한 혜택을 제공한다. 또한 각 브랜드 매장에 마련된 ‘무신사 스팟’을 찾아 해시태그와 함께 인스타그램에 업로드하면, 추첨을 통해 브랜드 티셔츠로 구성된 세트를 증정한다.

이어 허재는 옷도 변신하기 위해 매장을 방문했다. 허재는 멜빵바지를 추천받고 당황한 모습을 보였다. 허재는 "이런 옷을 한 번도 입어본 적이 없다"라고 말했다. 허재는 멜빵바지를 입고 나와 "옛날에 뽀뽀뽀 같지 않냐"라고 말해 주위를 폭소케 했다.

허재는 오렌지 빛깔의 코트까지 걸쳐 입고 완벽한 힙재로 변신해 눈길을 사로 잡았다. 허재는 "여성스러운 옷 같다고 생각했는데 입어보니까 또 다르다"라고 말했다. 허재는 폴라티에 검은 바지, 야상 점퍼를 입고 닉 우스터 패션을 완성해 눈길을 사로 잡았다.
